This beauty, is much deeper than skin, far brighter than the paint we daub. Lest our animal natures show, we cover, burnish, polish, whiten, eliminate. Scared of the wrinkle, crow’s feet, bulge, droop, signs of wisdom. These bodies are sacred. Sacred. Every nook, barnacle, newfound jowl, expression of joy, feeling, having lived, loved, wept and known the innermost sense of self, other, and all, we stand. Today, honoring every inch of this physical body, its pain, bliss, courage, stamina, nobility, and fierce magnificence, I bow. Thank you for my life. Thank you for this head, neck, shoulders, hips, thighs, knees, ankles, feet, toes. Thank you all creation. Thank you for this day.
